2. Acceptance of Terms
By using our website, submitting an enquiry, or leaving a timepiece in our care, you indicate that you have read and understood these terms and agree to be bound by them.
If you are acting on behalf of another individual or organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that party to this Agreement.
We ask that customers be at least 18 years of age, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, before leaving a watch for service. This is for your protection and ours, as we will communicate directly about your piece throughout the process.
3. Service Description
Dao offers hand-performed watch servicing and restoration work from our studio in Patong, Phuket. Our current service categories are:
- 01Refresh & Clean — A light-touch service addressing cleaning, lubrication, regulation, and seal inspection for watches in working order.
- 02Complete Service — A full movement overhaul involving disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, re-oiling, mainspring and balance review, and regulation.
- 03Dial & Movement Restoration — An extended service addressing both mechanical performance and the cosmetic condition of the case and dial, undertaken with specialist partners and full photographic documentation.
We work primarily with mechanical and manual winding watches. We reserve the right to decline work on pieces that are outside our competence or where parts cannot be responsibly sourced. We will inform you promptly if this is the case.
Availability of services and estimated timelines may vary. All timeframes quoted are estimates and not contractual commitments, though we make every effort to keep you informed of progress.
4. Your Responsibilities
To allow us to serve you well, we ask that you:
- Provide accurate information about your watch, including known history, prior repairs, and any faults you are aware of.
- Disclose if the timepiece has sentimental or significant monetary value so we may treat it with appropriate care.
- Notify us promptly of any change to your contact details during the service period.
- Collect your watch within 30 days of notification that work is complete. Uncollected pieces may incur a storage fee after this period.
- Not misrepresent ownership. By leaving a piece with us, you confirm that you are the owner or have the owner's consent to commission the work.
You agree not to use our website for any unlawful purpose or in a way that could harm our reputation or disrupt access for others.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, photographs, layout, and design — belongs to Dao or is used with appropriate permission. You may view and print pages for your personal reference, but you may not reproduce, distribute, or adapt our content for any other purpose without our written agreement.
Photographs taken of your watch during a service are created to document the restoration process and to help communicate with you. You are welcome to request copies for your own records. We may, with your permission, use such photographs to illustrate our work on this website or in portfolio materials. We will always ask first.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to use any images or documentation you share with us solely for the purpose of providing the service you have requested.
6. Payment Terms
All prices are quoted and payable in Thai Baht (฿). Our service prices, current at the time of publication, are:
Prices are reviewed periodically and the price applicable to your service will be the one confirmed at the time of your intake. We will provide a written quotation before commencing work.
Payment is due on collection of your watch unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing. We accept cash in Thai Baht and bank transfer. Payment by card may be available — please enquire at the time of drop-off.
If during a service additional work is identified, we will contact you before proceeding. No supplementary charges will be made without your agreement.
Cancellation & Returns: If you wish to withdraw a service before work has commenced, please notify us as soon as possible and no charge will apply. Once work has begun, costs for time and parts already expended may be applicable. Completed services are non-refundable, as the work has been performed on your specific timepiece. If you have a concern about the outcome of a service, please contact us directly — we are always willing to discuss and, where reasonable, to help.
7. Service-Specific Terms
Intake & Assessment
Each watch is inspected upon arrival. We will provide you with a written assessment and, where needed, a revised quotation if the condition differs from initial expectations. Work will not proceed until you have confirmed agreement.
Parts & Components
Where original manufacturer parts are available and appropriate, we will use them. In some cases — particularly with vintage pieces — compatible quality parts may be sourced from specialist suppliers. We will discuss this with you when relevant.
Timelines
Quoted timelines are good-faith estimates. Some watches present unexpected complexity once disassembled. If an expected completion date changes by more than one week, we will contact you. Our typical ranges: Refresh & Clean, under two weeks; Complete Service, approximately three weeks; Dial & Movement Restoration, five to eight weeks.
Dial Restoration
Dial restoration work is coordinated with a trusted external specialist. Choices regarding refinishing or conservation of the dial are always discussed with you first, and we will not proceed with irreversible steps without your written or verbal confirmation.
Scope Changes
If the scope of a service needs to change — whether expanded or reduced — we will discuss this openly with you and adjust the quotation accordingly before continuing.
8. Disclaimers
We perform our work with care and skill, and we stand behind the quality of what we do. However, watch servicing involves mechanical systems that may have underlying wear, damage, or manufacturing faults not visible until disassembly.
We cannot be held responsible for pre-existing faults that become apparent during or after service, or for the natural ageing of components that are at or near the end of their service life.
Our website is provided for informational purposes. While we keep it current, we make no representation that all details are complete at any given moment. The website should not be taken as professional horological advice for your specific piece without direct consultation with our team.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting as agents of any watch manufacturer. All brand names referenced on this site are for descriptive purposes only and remain the property of their respective owners.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted under the laws of Thailand, Dao's liability for any claim arising from our services shall not exceed the price paid for the specific service to which the claim relates.
We shall not be liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including loss of enjoyment, sentimental loss, or loss of market value, except in cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct on our part.
In the unlikely event that a watch is damaged while in our care, we will discuss the matter with you openly and work toward a fair resolution. We are committed to handling such situations with transparency.
We shall not be liable for delays or failures resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including supply chain disruption, illness, or other unforeseen events.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dao, its proprietors, and staff from any claims, damages, or costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misrepresentation of ownership of a watch, or your unlawful use of our website.
This obligation survives the completion of any service.
11. Termination
Either party may withdraw from a service agreement before work has commenced, without penalty, by providing notice in person, by telephone, or by email.
Once work has begun, withdrawal is possible but costs already incurred — for parts sourced or time spent — may be due. We will always be transparent about what has been done and what costs apply.
We reserve the right to decline or cease a service if we have reasonable grounds to believe a watch has been reported stolen, or if we are unable to reach you to confirm decisions for an extended period.
Sections 5, 8, 9, 10, and 12 of these Terms survive any termination of the agreement between us.
12. Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Phuket Province.
We would always prefer to resolve any concern through direct conversation. If you are unhappy with any aspect of your service, please contact us first — many misunderstandings can be addressed simply and promptly.
If a matter cannot be resolved informally, we are open to mediation through an agreed neutral party before any formal proceedings are considered.
Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act B.E. 2522 (1979) or other applicable Thai consumer protection legislation.
13. General Provisions
Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with any written quotation or intake documentation provided to you, constitute the full agreement between us regarding the services described.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
Waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive our right to enforce it on any future occasion.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under this Agreement to another party without our written consent. We may transfer our obligations in the event of a business transfer, provided your rights are not diminished.
Notices. Formal notices may be sent to us by email at [email protected] or by post to our studio address. We will communicate with you using the contact details you provide.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, usually to reflect changes in our services or relevant law. When we do, the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page will change.
For existing service engagements in progress at the time of an update, the Terms in place at the start of that service will continue to apply.
If you use our website or bring a watch to us after a change to these Terms, that indicates your acceptance of the revised version.
15. Contact Information
If you have any questions about these Terms or would like to discuss them, please reach out to us. We are happy to explain anything that is unclear.
